Mary Ellen "Jimmie" Darden

Mary E. "Jimmie" Darden, 87, of Haskell, passed away, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Haskell Memorial Hospital. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at East Side Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. A Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Haskell Funeral Home. Jimmie was born February 8,1934 in Van Zandt County, Texas, the daughter of the late Robert Clayton Trussell and Beaula Mae Roberson Trussell. On March 10, 1951, she married Richard Orville Darden in Haskell, Texas. For 24 years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Haskell Tire & Appliance. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church. Jimmie enjoyed reading, painting, collecting cookbooks and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orville Darden on January 1, 2009; 8 brothers and sisters.
Jimmie is survived by her son, Jerry Darden and wife Teggy of Lubbock, TX; daughter, Jane Harvey of Haskell, TX; grandson, Ted Harvey and wife Olivia of Abilene, TX; granddaughter, Meredith Jones and husband Corey of Rio Rancho, NM; great-grandson, Nikolai Jones of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Lin McEntire of Abilene, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
