John H. Evans, 79, of Rochester, passed away, Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Haskell. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00pm, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Haskell Funeral Home Chapel, 2 Avenue D, Haskell, TX. Burial will follow in Rule Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 pm, Wednesday at Haskell Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the funeral home. John was born January 20, 1938 in Jonesboro, TX, the son of the late Wendell Evans and Jewel Charlie Evans. For most of his life he was a loan officer in Midland, TX, before retirement. In 2004 he moved to Rochester, TX. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church in Midland, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Harvey Jean Gamble Evans, Ellen Burrow Evans; daughter, Karen Denise Dyke and 2 brothers.

John is survived by 2 sons, John Steven Evans and wife Bobbie of Andrews; Zane M. Evans and wife Jennifer; son-in-law, David Dyke of Midland; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
