Jerry L. Stocks

Jerry L. Stocks, 78, of Haskell, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Hendrick Hospice. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Willow Cemetery with Robbie Peiser and Tim Johnson officiating. Viewing will be Friday from 10am-8pm at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.

Jerry was born September 13, 1944 in Haskell, Texas. He was the son of the late Audie Stocks and Lydia Dake Stocks. In 1963 he graduated from Haskell High School and later served as a Medic in the Army. On June 16, 1969 he married Betty Sue Briscoe in Haskell. Jerry was Postmaster in Spur until his retirement in 2002. He was a retired fire fighter for the Haskell Volunteer Fire Department and served on the City Council for two terms from 1983 - 1991. He took great pride in serving in both of these capacities. Jerry was a member of the Haskell Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Audie Junior Stocks, Wanda Lancaster, Dean Stocks, and J.D. Stocks.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Stocks of Haskell; Sons, Cody Stocks and wife Laura of Johnson City, Rusty Stocks and wife Holly of Haskell; granddaughters, Alyssa Paige and Brynlee Jade of Haskell which Jerry absolutely adored; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of dear friends.

Pallbearers are Bill Steele, Eddie Klose, Sam Watson, Phil Coleman, Charles Gibson and Thomas Long. Honorary Pallbearers are W.O. Nanny and Joel Nanny.
