Jerry Dean Hannsz

Jerry Dean Hannsz, 76, of Haskell passed away, Tuesday, May 23, 2017. A Graveside Service will be held 10:00am, Friday, May 26, 2017 at Willow Cemetery with Randy Hise officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00pm, Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.

Jerry was born June 3, 1940 in Haskell, Texas, the son of the late Albert Roy Hannsz and Mary Doris Felker Hannsz. In 1958, he graduated from Rule High School. Jerry attended Lawton Junior College for 2 years and later graduated from Sul Ross State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and a minor in English. After graduating college, he moved back to the home place in Rule, where he was a lifelong farmer and rancher. In 1998, he married Carla Dahlquist in Haskell, TX. Jerry was a member of Pinkerton Baptist Church and later attended East Side Baptist Church. He served on the Haskell CISD school board for many years, also serving as President, and the Haskell Co-op Gin Board. Jerry also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Doris Hannsz; Joseph Sterling Hannsz, son of Jerry Hannsz and Maxine Hannsz Farmer, brother, Jimmy Hannsz; and father-in-law, Don Whitfield.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 18 years, Carla Sue Hannsz of Haskell, TX; children, Cary D Hannsz and wife Vicki of Barstow, TX, Casey W. Hannsz of Kent, TX; Kerrie Larkin and husband Ricky of Crosby, TX; Tony Dahlquist, Jr., and wife Kristie of Baytown, TX; grandchildren, Justin D. Hannsz and wife Lindsay of Stephenville, TX, Sterling L. Hannsz of Lubbock, TX, Aubrey, Blake, Cole Larkin, Kaylee and Kenner Dahlquist; great grandsons, J. Dean Hannsz of Stephenville, TX, Brazos L. Hannsz of Stephenville, TX; sister, Janet Earle of Haskell, TX; mother-in-law, Coleta Whitfield of Haskell, TX; family/co-worker Fidel Salinas and family of Haskell, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Pallbearers are Scott Williamson, Steve "Bull-frog" Livingston, Rob Kittley, Eddie Chambers, Jimmy Roberts, Jimmy D. Browning, Robert Browning and Joseph Browning. Honorary Pallbearers Steve Hickman, Mike Wilcox, Rod Jeter, Max McMeans and David Frierson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haskell County Junior Livestock Association, P.O. Box 911, Haskell, TX 79521 or American Heart Association.
