Janet A. Hannsz

July 5, 1943 — December 6, 2020

Janet Ann Hannsz was born July 5, 1943, in Haskell, Texas and passed away on December 6, 2020 in Abilene Texas at the age of 77. She was the daughter of the late Albert Roy Hannsz and Mary Doris (Felker) Hannsz.
Janet graduated from Rule High School in 1961 and then attended Draughon's Business School. Upon completion of the business school, she moved to Dallas to begin work at Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She was dating Doyle Strickland, whom she married in 1962, and he was employed by the Dallas Fire Department.
In 1970, Janet returned to Haskell where she worked for Richardson Truck and Tractor before joining Haskell National Bank in 1975 as a receptionist. She attended many classes and seminars. She was most proud of graduating in the top third of her class at the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU in Dallas. By the time she retired in 1992, she had reached the title of Assistant Vice President.
Janet spent her retirement years spending time with her family and friends and working on her home.
Janet is survived by her son, Kevin Strickland and wife Sharon of Mabank, Kendall Strickland and wife Laurie of Stamford, and daughter Kimla Kinney of Knox City. Grandchildren are Brandon Strickland, Braden Strickland, Kacey (Strickland) Roberson and husband Dustin, Kelsey Strickland, Bethany (Strickland) Dyson and husband Glenn, and Kaylee Kinney. Great-Grandchildren are Logan Roberson, Dexton Dyson, Kaydon and Carter Weaver, Lila Roberson, Annalise Dyson and friend Rex Conner.
Preceding Janet in death were her parents, Albert and Doris Hannsz, brothers, Jimmy Hannsz, and Jerry Hannsz, sister-in-law, Grace Hannsz and nephew Sterling Hannsz.
A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Willow Cemetery with Robbie Pieiser officiating. Services are under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
