Hildegard Polly Gray

Hildegard Polly Gray, 78, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. A graveside service will be held 1:00pm, Monday, July 22, 2024 at Willow Cemetery with Bro. Dan Bullock officiating, under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.

Polly was born April 3, 1946, in Landsberg am Lech, Germany, the daughter of Franziska Fischer. While in Germany, Polly worked as a pediatric nurse. May 2, 1971, she moved to the United States. On November 7, 1998, she married Jerrel Gray in Midland, Texas. During her time in Midland, she worked in sales, and for over 10 years, she worked at Dillard’s. She was eager to work, and liked to keep busy, often holding several jobs at once. Polly was proud of her most recent career as a security officer. 

Polly was one to stay busy, enjoying crafting such as knitting, crocheting, making jewelry, painting and photography. She was also known for her German delicacies and baking. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Franziska Fischer.

Polly is survived by her husband, Jerrel Gray of Midland; daughter, Cindy Duke and husband Bobby of Corpus Christi; son, John Shugart and wife Karlie of Dallas; grandchildren, Trey Duke and Mattie Shugart; ex-husband, Ken Shugart of El Reno, Oklahoma; extended family and a host of dear friends.
