George "Pops" L. Diaz

George "Pops" L. Diaz, 68, of Haskell, passed away in Haskell, Monday, October 31, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00am, Saturday, November 5, 2022, at St. George Catholic Church, with Rev. Alexander Amburose officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. A rosary will be held 7:00pm, Friday, November 4, 2022 at St. George Catholic Church with Deacon Julian Estrada officiating. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.


George was born January 28, 1954 in Bartlett, TX, the son of the late Jose Diaz and Lucinda Hernandez Diaz. He served in the Army from 10 years and was a life-long truck driver. He enjoyed going to the casinos, but nothing meant more to him than his kids and grandkids. George loved his family.


He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Christopher Xavier Diaz; brothers, Joe Diaz and Fernando Diaz.


George is survived by his children, Steven Diaz of Lubbock; Gloria Diaz of Knox City; George Diaz, Jr. of Lubbock; Brent Watson of Haskell; Grandchildren, Lucinda Gonzalez, Megan Garcia, Eddie Martinez, Jr., Michaela Martinez, Steven Diaz, Jr., Christian Diaz, Joana Diaz, Jasmine Diaz, Jose Diaz, Eric Diaz, Hailey Diaz, Jacob Diaz, Mikey Diaz, Christopher Diaz, Cassandra Diaz, Amber Diaz, Samuel Diaz and 22 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Johnny Diaz of Haskell; Octavio Diaz of Mineral Wells, Roy Diaz of Abilene; Raymond Diaz of Idaho, Leonor Sanchez of Conroe, Dora Whitley of Abilene; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
