Genelle Bailey Weeks, 90, lifelong resident of Haskell, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Wichita Falls. A private funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, Haskell with Bro. Terry Bunch and Pastor Nadine Nkulu Ilunga officiating. Services will be live on the Church Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/haskell.first.united.methodist.church. Genelle was born November 21, 1930 in Haskell, Texas, the daughter of the late Virgil C. Bailey and Minnie A. McNeely Bailey. She was a graduate of Haskell High School. On May 26, 1993, she married Raymond Weeks, who preceded her in death February 14, 2011. Genelle worked in the Haskell County Clerks' office prior to being co-owner of Conner's Nursery and Floral, for 20+ years, retiring in 1995.
She loved flowers and plants, decorating for the holidays and was the family seamstress. Genelle earned the title of top chef, partly because of her love of watching cooking shows, and then trying them out. She enjoyed reading and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Genelle volunteered as a Girl Scouts leader for many years. Genelle was fiercely strong, quick witted and fun loving. To know Genelle was to love her. She was a ray of sunshine, who brightened our everyday.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Donna Kay Overton, Jo Nell Sammons, Mike Weeks and Rebecca Clark; brothers, Quinton E. Bailey and his wife Ruth and Delmon C. Bailey and his wife Inez.
Genelle is survived by her daughter, Jana Overton of Haskell, TX; son-in-law, Alvin Sammons of Seymour, TX; daughter-in-law, Paula Weeks of Denton, TX; Grandchildren, Dustin Hajek and wife Amy of Wylie, TX; Jonathan Hajek and wife Chelsey of Waurika, OK; Erin Smith and husband Cameron of Wichita Falls, TX; David Hajek, Jr. and Kimbra Dreyer of Westover, TX; Kaitlin Norville of Dallas, TX; Klay Norville of Haskell, TX; Mandy Seaman and husband Cash of Denton, TX; Angie Lee and husband Aaron of Denton, TX; Brian Clark and wife Kathy of Tuscon, AZ; Brandon Clark of St. Augustine, FL; Great Grandchildren, Hudson, Levi, Jolie, Emmie, Sam, Nate, Michael, David, Addy, Ayla, Ace, Madison, Brianna, Nicholas, Elyse; Great-Great Grandchildren, Kielynn and Brynlie. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of dear friends.
