Ernest "Ernie" B. Frye, 63, of Haskell, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 in Haskell. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the American Legion Post 221, Haskell. His wishes were to be cremated.

Ernie was born December 9, 1953 in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late Thomas Henry Frye and Ethel Irene Onderko Frye. On December 17, 1988, he married the love of his life, Brenda Lusk, in Florida. In 2003, they made Haskell their home. Ernie proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He has been a faithful member to the American Legion Post 221 for many years, where he served as the Treasurer. Ernie took pride in the Haskell Gun & Knife Show which he started and kept going, twice a year since the first show in 2014. Ernie was a CHL (LTC) Instructor and a FFL dealer. He enjoyed repairing guns, re-loading ammunition and held hunter safety courses for the children. Ernie also served the community as a City Council Alderman for 1 terms. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and followed driver Jimmie Johnson. Most of all, Ernie was proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to watch and support them in the different activities they were a part of.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald Frye.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 28 years, Brenda Frye of Haskell; sons, Rick Grimes and wife Sharon of Florida, Bill Grimes of Ohio; daughter Sheri Wagner of Haskell; Cliff Grimes and wife Cynthia of California, grandchildren, Bristol Wagner, Marina Wagner, Brittany Wagner, Samantha Grimes, Rebekah Grimes, Ricky Grimes, Matthew Grimes, Tabitha Grimes, father-in-law, Jack Lusk, extended family and a host of dear friends.
