Carl Dean Thomas, 71, lifelong resident of Haskell, passed away, Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at his home in Haskell, TX. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00pm, Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Haskell Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Lee Riley and Bro. Robert Johnson, Sr. officiating. Carl Dean was born December 27, 1952, in Haskell, Texas, the son of the late J. T. Thomas and Bobbie Ruth Hendricks Thomas. He graduated from Haskell High School and later served in the Army. Carl Dean retired from WTU, after working for 23 years. After retirement, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Haskell County, and in 2006, went to work for the City of Haskell. Carl Dean was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as hanging out with friends. He never met a stranger and was always there to help someone else in need. Carl Dean was a loyal, trustworthy man, and was a great father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. T. and Bobbie Ruth Thomas and 2 brothers, J. T. Thomas, Jr. and Lawrence Thomas.
Carl is survived by his brother, Jimmy Lee of Sweetwater and a sister, Bettie Jean of Abilene; stepchildren, Contessa Fowler of Dallas; Christopher Marshall of San Antonio; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.
